Don’t get me wrong. I think Rock Band is really cool. As a matter of fact, I enjoy playing Beatles Rock Band with my two sons….However, both of them are in music lessons and play “real” instruments as well.
Sure, games like Rock Band have introduced our young ones (and old) to some really cool music, but just imagine if some of them got up off that stage (couch) and tried singing or playing a real instrument. There are so many benefits for kids in learning a musical instrument. It’s a fact!
I hope this Blog will educate and encourage people to at least notice that their kids show an interest in music and encourage them to take lessons and/or join a music camp. If kids are playing numerous hours on their Rock Band, chances are they may just love substituting their time for the “real thing”.

1) Sure my kids play Rock Band…Benefits = introduce them to different types of music genres?
2) Sure my kids take lessons and attend music camp…benefits = too numerous to mention (stay tuned for more Blogs)
So, Lesson #1 in “converting kids from playing rock band into playing in real life”….Awareness!!!.
